Finally

Ok, so I am finally getting around to blogging about little Gretta's birth.
I started having contractions on the first of september, I was excited and a little nervous, i had decided to have her at home. I wasn't worried about the lack of pain meds because I didn't have an epidural with Annabelle and lived to tell the tale. Well, they were really intense for a few hours and then pretty much stopped when Craig came home from work. Bummer. So for the next 9 days not so much as a peep from my little girl. On the Morning of the 11th, yep thats right, september 11th, I had an appointment that I hopped would be my last, I was getting really uncomfortable, and just felt like a beached whale all the time! I started having really strong contractions while i was getting ready to leave. While I was there they measured and checked me, my belly was 42 cm!! It was only 39 the week before! and I was almost 4cm along. They told me to go home, and call my husband to come home and my mom to start the drive down so she could be there for the birth of grandbaby #6.
By this point it was around 11:30, I get to my car and tell Craig to come straight home after his 12 o'clock meeting. I call my mom and tell her to get down here so I can have this baby! She tells me she has to "run do a few things" and then she'll be on her way. I was like, "you know I am in labor right?" But whatever! She didn't end up leaving for another few hours!
Craig comes home, and my labor has almost stopped completely. Great! So Craig and Belle take a nap, I cant sleep because I am really annoyed that my baby isn't here yet, so I do what all good expectant mothers do and I start cleaning! After all the cleaning I'm pretty tired and I am having some contractions, so I fall asleep. At about 6pm I wake up from the intensity of the contractions. I go down stairs and eat some dinner and decide the moment has come to call my midwife. She comes over at about 6:30 and I am about a 5. She leaves for a little bit and Craig takes Belle over to a friends.
At about 8 I am almost a 7 and I get into the tub (did I mention I was doing a water birth?).
Within 10 minutes my mom and my sister FINALLY arrive, its time to have this baby! It was really a wonderful experience for me to be in my own house, and that I knew what my body was doing. I pushed for maybe half an hour (time is a little warped when you're in labor) and by 9:57 I was holding my 9 lb 13 oz baby girl in my arms!
She is now two months old, and is so much fun! Both girls love each other and I can't believe how different and how much the same things are!

We sure do love our new little addition!

Playing "catch-up"

Ok, so I know I'm not very good at updating this. But here you go! Some of the things going on around here the past few months! Enjoy!

Most recent family picture

A few weekends ago we went to the Salt Lick with some friends. Talk about the BEST barbeque you have ever tasted! It was something to write home about!
While we were waiting my friend Kara snapped this picture of us. I think it turned out pretty good!

June

June brought a lot of excitement for us. Craig had his birthday on the 6th. We got to go out for his birthday, it was a lot fun. Some of our good friends watched Belle for us so we could have a real date! It was grate. Sorry I don't have any baby/kid pictures of him on the computer. Maybe I'll get some scanned by his next birthday! :)

Annabelle also had her birthday this month. She turned 2!! I can't believe it! I remember the day I found out I was expecting. It seems like it wasn't very long ago. Maybe thats because I found out about the one on the way in January! We may never know! Anyways, she has grown up so much these past two years! She can count to ten in three languages, it could be more, but thats all we know! She knows a lot of her letters. She is so excited about her new baby sister on the way, and is always asking when she will come out. She knows many primary songs, and even some actions to them. She loves to jump and twirl around. People keep asking me when she turns three because she is so tall! When I took her for her two-year check up her hight was off the charts! She was 36 1/2 inches tall! She is a giant! She is such a sweet, caring little girl, and i know that she will be a GREAT big sister!

At my baby shower, 8 months along.

One day old.

First birthday

Second birthday. She is getting so big!

May 7th

I know this is a little late, but oh well. deal with it! :)
On May 7th we celebrated the 4th anniversary of our wedding! Ok so didn't really do anything that day, I had really bad food poisoning that I was FINALLY getting over. But thats ok. We did have fun when we did get to celebrate. I love you honey!
We look so young!

Why I'm glad to be her mommy!

So the other day started out like almost any other. Belle and I woke up, had breakfast, let it settle in our tummys for a bit and proceeded to go on a walk. If you don't live down here in San Antonio, its REALLY starting to get HOT! At 7pm tonight it was 97. And I'm supposed to go through this pregnant? Really? After we get home after the two mile walk in the blazing sun, I am, as you can imagine, rather smelly. So the only thing that seems to work when naps aren't happening so much anymore is to turn a movie on the computer for Belle so I can take longer than 2 minutes. After I shower and get dressed I come out to check on her. She informs me that is watching "Rella" (Cinderella) and tells me "Wovey SO much!" (wovey= love you) It made my heart melt! I had to cuddle with her for the rest of the movie because I wovey her so much!
Do you have moments when you realize that really, being a mommy is the best thing in the whole world? This was defiantly one for me!

Funny story

So a few nights ago Belle and I were eating some french fries for dinner and she had ketchup on her plate. She pointed to it and asked:
   Shishy? (fishy)
Is there a fishy in your ketchup?
No... Rove rove? (sound doggies make)
Is there a doggie in your ketchup?
No... Kare? (My friend Kara)
Is Kara in there?
 No... Pinty? (Her son Timmy)
Is timmy in there?
No... Tintin? (Tanner)
Is tanner in your ketchup?
No... Doug?
Is Doug in you ketchup?
No...

This proceeded a few more times, going through the whole Charlton Family and asking if they were in her ketchup!! She knows that nothing was really in there, but it was so funny to watch/listen to her ask! Its moments like that where its so easy to be her mom!
Do you have any funny stories like that?
