Finally

Ok, so I am finally getting around to blogging about little Gretta's birth.
I started having contractions on the first of september, I was excited and a little nervous, i had decided to have her at home. I wasn't worried about the lack of pain meds because I didn't have an epidural with Annabelle and lived to tell the tale. Well, they were really intense for a few hours and then pretty much stopped when Craig came home from work. Bummer. So for the next 9 days not so much as a peep from my little girl. On the Morning of the 11th, yep thats right, september 11th, I had an appointment that I hopped would be my last, I was getting really uncomfortable, and just felt like a beached whale all the time! I started having really strong contractions while i was getting ready to leave. While I was there they measured and checked me, my belly was 42 cm!! It was only 39 the week before! and I was almost 4cm along. They told me to go home, and call my husband to come home and my mom to start the drive down so she could be there for the birth of grandbaby #6.
By this point it was around 11:30, I get to my car and tell Craig to come straight home after his 12 o'clock meeting. I call my mom and tell her to get down here so I can have this baby! She tells me she has to "run do a few things" and then she'll be on her way. I was like, "you know I am in labor right?" But whatever! She didn't end up leaving for another few hours!
Craig comes home, and my labor has almost stopped completely. Great! So Craig and Belle take a nap, I cant sleep because I am really annoyed that my baby isn't here yet, so I do what all good expectant mothers do and I start cleaning! After all the cleaning I'm pretty tired and I am having some contractions, so I fall asleep. At about 6pm I wake up from the intensity of the contractions. I go down stairs and eat some dinner and decide the moment has come to call my midwife. She comes over at about 6:30 and I am about a 5. She leaves for a little bit and Craig takes Belle over to a friends.
At about 8 I am almost a 7 and I get into the tub (did I mention I was doing a water birth?).
Within 10 minutes my mom and my sister FINALLY arrive, its time to have this baby! It was really a wonderful experience for me to be in my own house, and that I knew what my body was doing. I pushed for maybe half an hour (time is a little warped when you're in labor) and by 9:57 I was holding my 9 lb 13 oz baby girl in my arms!
She is now two months old, and is so much fun! Both girls love each other and I can't believe how different and how much the same things are!

We sure do love our new little addition!
